All due to the current water supply shortage caused by climate change in the Angat Dam Reservoir, most especially in the warmer months, Maynilad Water Services Inc has been trying to meet the increasing demand for water in the province of Cavite. These shortage issues have resulted in drastic rotational water interruptions experienced randomly, especially during the dry summer.
To urgently address these issues, Maynilad currently operates Modular Treatment Plants such as the Julian Intake Modular Treatment Plant (ModTP), which are stationed in various dam locations within the concession area to address these water shortages. While these have existed for some time, the project proponent has decided to upgrade these facilities to improve current water supply with newer intake solutions within the plant to meet intake flow levels and improve the quality of service for affected residents. Thus, the inception of the Project on Intake Improvement Works of the Julian ModTP.

The overall capacity of the plant flows at 3-4MLD. In order to maximize this, Hydropure Tech Philippines Corp (HTPC) was contracted to undertake the demands and requirements of the Julian Intake ModTP Improvement Works. HTPC is expected to design a better intake and modular water treatment plant with increased intake flow and treatment capacity. Part of the agreed upon scopes of work under the contract awarded to HTPC includes the design, building, installation and testing, and commissioning of the ModTP Intake Facility.
As a result, reaching target raw water flow levels with decreased intrusion of debris, and better management ofriver water flow levels with automated sluice gate solutions.
The resulting water supply aims to benefit approximately 19,000-20,000 consumers within the province of Cavite, due to more access to water.
